Polar Skate Co. have done it yet again. As a store favourite and in fact a favourite for many across the globe, we are proud to stock a new range of clothing apparel from Polar. This is the Holiday 15 collection and it continues to prove that Polar are near the top of the game when it comes to skate clothing.

We have a few select bits from the collection in our store and online. This time round it includes some accessories that would be perfect as a Christmas present or just for yourself! These accessories are the No Comply key chain (£10.00), No Comply wallet (£35.00) and the new leather bottom Happy Sad tote shoulder bag (£25.00). The key chain and wallet come in both a black and brown real genuine cow leather. These are top quality accessories that are very affordable!

As per the headwear is simple but beautiful. We have 3 new colourways of the popular No Comply cap but this time around they feature a leather strap adjuster instead of the usual fabric adjuster. The best part is that they are same price as usual at £34.99! We are also stocking the Harbour beanie which as a 70% Acrylic 30% wool beanie that features the stroke logo as a patch. These are retailing at £24.99. Something brand new coming in with this drop are the Polar gloves. These gloves feature real cow leather with smart touch thumb and index finger pads enabling you to use your phone while out in the harsh weather. These are very very dope. Super comfy and top quality. At only £24.99 you’d be a fool to miss out.

To top off all of the gully-ness from the accessories, there’s a small but fine line of clothing. The As Long As Umbrellas Fly t-shirt has a new graphic designed by Pontus Alv (£29.99), the classic Stroke Logo L/S tees (These come in Black/Pink and White/Pastel blue) (£34.99), a vintage botanical green Default crewneck sweatshirt (£59.99) and the gloriously comfortable pullover Fill Logo hoodie in sport grey / blue (£69.99).

When it comes to buying a skateboard, it should be seen as an investment. The more you put in, the more you get out. Generally, spending more means that you’re going to get a higher quality skateboard which is going to last significantly longer before wearing out or breaking. Spending £60 on a complete skateboard compared to £30 for example means you’re getting a product that is built with superior materials and better construction which is designed to survive the knocks and bumps of skateboarding.

In our opinion, a Seven Skates Complete is the next best thing to buying a custom complete which will easily set you back over £100 . The quality on these completes is some of the best we’ve ever seen for the price and we couldn’t recommend them enough. These are a great starting point for getting into skateboarding as you’ll be able to upgrade and customise it whenever you see fit.

NEW Thame Skatepark 2015

Just up the road from Aylesbury you will find Thame. Thame is a small market town in Oxfordshire and was home to a small skatepark that featured metal ramps on a fairly small area of concrete. This skatepark was built in 2002 and has catered to local skateboarders since and helped create some extreme talent. Now, in 2015 after a years of hard work, dedication and a hell of a lot of fundraising, the locals and Thame’s council have come together to reach their target to start building a new and beautifully rad skatepark in the same area as the old park.

The new Thame Skatepark will be built by Wheelscape (who are known for their brilliant skatepark design and construction) and will feature a street course complete with stairs, hips, ledges, pole jams, hubbas and gaps and a large bowl section to please all types of skaters and to also give the opportunity for all to learn the different styles of skateboarding. This monster of a park should be built by the end of 2015 and us here at Aylesbury are looking extremely forward to it with it only being about a 15 minutes drive from us! We applaud everyone involved with this project, especially the locals who have put their heart in to all sorts of events and fundraisers to help make this happen. Goes to show what difference you can make when you put the effort in (*ahem* learning new tricks *ahem*).

Aylesbury Vale Skatepark 2015

On Wednesday 5th August it was the official opening of the refurbished Aylesbury Vale Skatepark. It was a small turn out due to it being mid-week at 1pm and a lot of the locals are big boys now with responsibilities, but nonetheless there were nothing but good vibes.

A few of the locals got chatting to the council members expressing their joy for the new park and how it has already attracted skaters from surrounding areas, something that hasn’t happened down vale for who knows how many years!

Further on in to the day we had a mini competition covering three obstacle within the park. These being the tombstone gap, stair set and the curved ledge and wall. We topped it off a large game of skate which got pretty tense towards the end between two of the locals. Three out of the four were won by Sam Barker, an 18 year old with a damn load of talent that covers a broad spectrum of skateboarding.

The new Aylesbury Vale skatepark caters to a variety of different styles of skateboarders such as the techy ledge wizards, the impact stair set skaters and a bit to the gnarly transition riders. With nothing too large nor too small, this really is a great place to get learning and to also test your already known skill. We really hope that this park spawns a new breed, a new generation, a new scene of skateboarders to the town of Aylesbury.

Passport Skateboards Fall ’15

We have been blessed with a small but sweet delivery of some goods from Aussie brand, Passport. These guys have been around since 2008 and have kept very underground till recent years due to their unique graphics and rad team.

From the Fall ’15 collection we have got a small supply of the Wild Women board series (8″, 8.25″, 8.38″) featuring a traditional style woman holding various animals in a variety of colours with some gold accents. These decks are some real lookers so we would not be surprised if you got one for a wall hanger!

As far as soft goods go we have 2 colour ways of the Wild Women Her Snakes graphic. One in a clean back and white colour way, another in a smooth navy and yellow. We also have 2 colour ways of the Workers Longsleeve T-shirts that feature an embroidered Workers logo on the left breast and elasticated cuffs. These are clean, great quality and perfect for the end of summer and beginning of autumn weather. To add to the necessities when transitioning in to Autumn, we have got 2 colour ways of the Workers fisherman beanie which will keep your dome toasty due to the thickness of them.

Everything can be found on our website and also in-store now!

Bronson Speed Co Bearing Detail

Bronson Speed Co. Bearings Review

When the new park opened I decided it was time for a new setup giving me a chance to finally try out the Bronson Speed Co bearings. Anyone who has been keeping up with skate news has bound to have heard of them and i’ll be surprised if you’re not at least a little interested. For years now Bones have been a solid choice for bearings (Namely the Bones Reds) but if these are as good as they claim to be, I doubt you’ll ever use a set of Reds again.

The Bronson Speed Co G3 Bearings claim to be the perfect skateboarding with a range of crazy technologies going into them.

  • Deep Groove Raceways – The balls roll deep in raceway channels which reduces side impact damage & breakage.
  • Straight Edge Frictionless Shields – These shields are pop off resistant and hold oil in while keeping dirt and moisture out making them easy to clean.
  • Micro Groove Raceway Surfaces – Linear micro-groove surfaces improve bearing lubrication, speed and spin.
  • Max Impact Cage Design – Non-distortion custom cage keeps the balls precision spaced & oil circulating.
  • Balls Out Technology – Eliminates shield and cage contact on impact for a go fast, stay fast bearing.
  • High Speed Ceramic Oil – Nano-ceramic compounds for wear protection – moisture, rust, corrosion resistant.
  • Factory Fresh Quality – Nitrogen filled shrink wrap, reduces metal & oil oxidation until ready to be ridden. Means that you can leave these bearings in storage for years and they will still be factory fresh when you finally open them.

If that bulleted list doesn’t make you tingle you obviously have something wrong with you. It takes a special bearing to last a few years without seizing or popping and by the sounds of it these bearings should tick every box.

They come in an amazing metal presentation tin with a slide off lid. Inside of that you have the 8 bearings as you can expect. Then Bronson are kind enough to supply you with a full set of 4 spacers for inside the wheels and 8 washers as you’ve probably already lost these before. The bearings themselves have bright orange shields, one with a black stripe on it to indicate which way around it goes in the wheel.

I’ve been skating them for a few weeks now and they’re definitely the best bearings I’ve skated. Before these I was skating Flip HKD Abec 5’s and I loved those too, much nicer than Bones Reds (in my opinion) and a little cheaper too. Straight out the tin they roll forever and are super smooth and quiet. Even now they are still silent when rolling around at the park, making a nice change from the usual racket put out from broken in bearings.

The park at the moment is surrounded by mud as they were trying to grow some grass, meaning the board has landed in there plenty of times. Even then, the shields have managed to keep all of the dirt out so they are still running as smooth as ever.

For the £29.99 price tag I can definitely recommend them. You may be paying twice as much as you would for a set of Bones Reds but the quality jump is much more. I’m sure they could easily outlast them too making them a very worthy investment.

You can buy the Bronson Speed Co G3 Bearings from Aylesbury Skateboards online and in store now.

Mother Collective

Mother Collective is a new board brand straight out of Ohio recently created by Jake Johnson, Tyler Bledsoe, and Gilbert Crockett. We have been lucky enough to get a few of the boards from their spring/summer 1.3 drop in stock and they are looking rad. Sizes range from 8.0″ up to 8.5″.

Mother boards use PS Stix wood for all of their boards and not just the Pro models, meaning you’re getting quality you can trust with any deck you pick up from them. All of the boards have “Hand Crafted by PS Stix. Made In Mexico.” printed on the top just to make things more legit.

The shop favourite has got to be the Jake Johnson Catherine (one) in red. The deep red of the bottom ply stands out so much on our shop wall. All of the decks come with a Mother logo sticker so that’s pretty great too.

You can check out our range of Mother Collective boards on our store website Aylesbury Skateboards. All decks retail at £54.99.
